    Before we start the entry....

  • I still have not replied to my dad's email.
  • Dentist cancelled today, which means the appointment is moved to Saturday.
  • Mum finally snapped and announced that she wants to buy the dog.
  • Still figuring out how to watch speed racer.
  • I'm not really a fan of chick flicks, but What Happens in Vegas is a must watch.
  • I WANT A PET.

Interesting shit I came across when I was bored and searched "Henri Malicdem" on google. O:

YES! And I mean Henri Malicdem brother of Anne Malicdem. XD Hahahahaa I cropped the rest coz it wont fit, but I think you get the idea. Anyway, I found out that the girl studies in St. Scho and yeah. Freeeeeaaaaky. XD

Anyway, finally! A review! Okay, so I'm doing a review on Special A's anime. To get a better grasp of the review, I suggest you watch the first episode. (Videos below)

Okay, first of all, I will not be dropping the anime just because of the god aWful art (see arms and legs) but then again, I am just hopelessly in love with the manga, so I will be continuing to review this anime despite its *cough* god awful art. I can also say that the ones who cast the voices for this had not done such a great job. Well, I do hope it gets better. You all may think that it's just like Clamp's style but NO! it is not! I'm not sure what exactly the artist's motive was - whether to emphasise their height or what but STILL! It is NOT Clamp, and if they're trying to copy Clamp's style, they have another thing coming their way.

Nonetheless, it does follow the manga *thankfully* and since I've already read part of the manga, I see no point in reviewing the plot since I have in my first entry.

Anyway, rating given = 2/5 although it still is worthy of watching due to it's great plot. :D

That's Kingchow, one of the puppies we named back in Cebu. Well, the story is, that I got very drunk and got sick. So I was drinking green tea and suddenly, I just noticed that his head was stuck in the cup. Everyone kept cracking up. LMAO!!

So I'm back from Cebu!!! I came back during the 8th of May, but I was too lazy to update. XD Nonetheless, we had SO MUCH FUN. We made a lot of friends, stole signs that said "NO PARKING IN THIS SIDE", got drunk, ate alot, played with pupppies, woke up to dog shit and pee, and lots more. Nonetheless, this is yet another post with no review as I am very tired so I will be doing a post first thing in the morning.

Alright! Before we end, we go to the obvious list of what shit is going on in my life. :D

  • Dad is finally going to give me money.
  • Getting my braces soon.
  • Anne and I are going back to Cebu on July.
  • Figuring out how Mich and I are going to watch speed racer
  • We're not going to dinner anymore.
  • Mich has braces and now is missing a pair of molars.

Ah life, sometimes, I start to think that Mich is trying to make up for the awful shit he made me go through by telling me he loves me all the time. And believe me, I can tell the difference. He calls and texts all the time now, although as certain occasions we have nothing to talk about yet he still stays on the phone and makes grunting noises (of course I grunt back) so basically that's our conversation. We've switched to Sun now btw since it's easier for us to talk AND I've lost my Globe sim card but who cares. Anyway, we had a serious talk about me finally asking why he acted that way before. He couldn't say anything but sorry, but I've forgiven him long before. It's just that I get curious once in a while why he suddenly switched to me and not her. But I think it's better off that I didn't think about it.

I promise an update tomorrow! Bye!

Anyway, resume of criticisms and reviews two weeks from now!

But for now, I will be in Cebu, drinking coconut (?) scratch that. Mango juice with Anne. :D

    Saturday-Sunday, April 26-27, 2008

This is a whole update on my liiiiife!

    Saturday:

So Adam picked me up from Festival, waited for half an hour in Starbucks, then went to Robinson's to meet up with his mum and his brothers. I bought a ginormous lollipop (which Mich eventually stole lmfao). And when we got there, I forgot about the camera (coz of the whole rushing). Kelsey was pissed and everything. We waited in starbucks for Kels and Mich (he didn't have a shirt on. xD). Then went to Adam's house to get his stuff. Kelsey got even more pissed coz Adam didn't get everything that he needed coz of the 'pressure' and shit. Anyway, we went to Mcdonald's got some food, then went to Westgrove to swim. Then we were SUPPOSED to have barbeque but then when everything was all set, Mich's dad texts telling him that the whole family's going home. So in 5 mins (or less) we cleaned up and walked to Adam's and eventually, the maids cooked the food for us. AAAAAANYWAY! Then I slept over Kelsey's where we didn't really sleep at all.

Kels and I made coffee and cooked mini hotdogs. She put 11 scoops of sugar for her to keep awake and I put 5-6(?). Then we realised that they tasted god- awful so we put in alot of milk. And everything was good.

    Sunday:

The next Morning, Kels fell asleep and I was with Zack (her brother) and he kept following me EVERYWHERE. XD I rode with them to Estates 1 to Mich's house and left Kelsey behind coz she was sleeping. Then Mich took me home and yeah, I didn't get to sleep until night time because I was in MoA with mum. >_< Nothing much happened because I was sleeping the rest of the night. Ha ha ha. XD

Update on my ...messed up life!

  • Dad is messed up.
  • Financial Problems
  • Going to Cebu with Anne.
  • Monthsary wasn't so good, but the day after was great. XD
  • Mich is taking me to dinner after Cebu.
  • Nothing more.

Blah. Up to now I still have to take my meds. I think something is wrong with me, mum and the doctors just won't tell me.

I mean, mum keeps telling me to remember to take my meds and I can't eat certain stuff. (Cant eat kwek kwek for the time being *cry*) It's annoying. And everyone in the house acts as if I'm something completely fragile. Come on, you're dealing with the girl who swam 7000-8000 metres a day for training!

One more thing I must rant about is also about my meds. They expect me to SWALLOW this ginormous tablet which I end up choking on. And a couple more pills and after swallowing them, I end up thinking, "am I sick?" But truth be told, I am NOT. I am completely cured from my three-day puking session. Okay so, my nose bled as well, but they have nose bleeds in manga all the time! Srsly, I'm fine.

Okay, so basically, I take back what I said. I think I must be called now puke-arella. Because what was of my most favourite dish is now probably finding its way in the toilet pipes (??)

Now, We move on to the list of what the ...heck is happening to my life.

  • Medicine I hate.
  • Financial Problems
  • Going to Cebu with Anne on Tuesday. (She has the sequel to Stargirl. XD)
  • Tomorrow is our second monthsary, but I'm pissed so f-it.
  • Mich is taking me to dinner after Cebu.
  • Meeting Kelsey tomorrow to give camera. (Not too sure about this anymore)
  • I am pissed.
  • I apparently did not sing "Somewhere over the rainbow" to myself this morning at 3-4(?)
  • I am getting weirder every day.
  • I'm almost running out of Q-tips.

And off we go to the daily review.

This afternoon (before Dom suddenly decided to have a surprise visit), I was able to finish a sweet manga called 1/3 no Kareshi.

It's about a girl in third-year high school called Fukuda Rei. The manga starts off with her talking about not having a boyfriend ever since the start of high school. Her friend explains that she has been confessed to a lot, but she rejected every single one of them, for the reason of not knowing what a 'relationship- between-a-girl-and-a-boy' is.

She now meets a cool and handsome guy named Kogure Yuuya who wants to take a picture of her. Blushing, she says yes with no hesitation. But when she asks the reason for taking a photo of her, he points out that her underwear was completely exposed, her skirt tucked into her folded arms being the culprit. She asks him to delete it, but the answer is no. And the only way that he would erase it if she meets him in the same place at the same time again. Obviously, since she had no choice at all, she agrees.

The next day, an incident of which Rei thought she was going to be kissed by Yuuya only to find out that he was only going to take off the butterfly on her shoulder. Her heart starts thumping very fast and she blushes hard. He then introduces himself and said that he already knew Rei's name. Why? Because "I like you, that's all."- is what he says. He then tells her that he expects no reply right away. After that, he tells her that she can go but she must meet him the next day, same time, same place.

Her friends notice that she has been missing during lunch breaks lately and they think that they have a boyfriend although one believes that "she's probably being taken for a ride."

One day, she shows up in one of Yuuya's class in a very cute outfit. The students surround her, but suddenly Yuuya runs off with her. And when they stopped, he asks why she is dressed like that. Her answer that was because she wanted to become more easy-going and she says that the way she dressed before was very conservative being the reason for her being single. Yuuya tells her she's wrong, grabs her, and kisses her. Then tells her the reason that she might not be noticed was for her to fall in love with him. "Tell me you like me soon" he says. "I love you too" - is what she replies.

The scene changes to a happily strutting Rei until she finds Yuuya coming out of the junior high 1-b section. She hides and thinks that Yuuya is actually a junior high-school student. She ten overhears their conversation about older women. One boy asks Yuuya whether he is interested in older women, he then replies no. Rei, thinking that Yuuya is actually a junior-high school student, is very hurt and starts crying because she is in high school and believes that she is older than him.

She starts avoiding him after that day. And Yuuya is now very angry so he calls her asking where she is. She tells him that she is at school but will not meet up with him. Now he uses his blackmail tactics since he has Rei's very showy picture. She gets angry because he uses blackmail against her so she goes straight to his class, 1-b and asks for Yuuya only to find him the teacher of the class. *gasp* The dramatic part here is where he drops the chalk and it breaks in half.

She runs off, and he runs after her, telling the class it's okay if he gets reported and that Rei has been his unrequited love for a very long time. She hides from him, but he knows she is there. He uses his blackmail material for her to stop hiding. She comes out and tries to steal the phone from him, but sees a different picture. A picture of her in her first year of junior high. Apparently, Yuuya was in the third year of high school when he confessed to her but was rejected. He then tells her that he never gave up and tells her the truth...

He is a man that has loved her for five years.

    Review:

I liked this story very much. It was really simple, yet it had SUCH a great twist and it was very detailed for just a one-shot. I totally recommend this for shoujo lovers. The art may not be like the usual 'beautiful-maiden' blah blah, but still! The guy was hot, and we all know it. I liked the way he drops the chalk when she finds out he is actually a teacher. It's a very interesting manga. I hoped it was a bit longer though, but it was still well portrayed. Once again, I recommend this for shoujo lovers!

Hullo again! It's the self-centered fifteen year old to bring you a review of this wonderful manga, Koukou Debut (Highschool Debut).

But before this, I must update on what the ...heck is happening to my life.:

  • Financial problems.
  • Annulment of (psycho-****** up-maniac) Step father and my Mum.
  • Going to Cebu with Anne on Tuesday (Might see Kimmy as well)
  • Might not see Mich on our (second) monthsary.
  • Mich is taking me out to dinner when I get back from Cebu. *giggle*
  • Going to lend Kelsey my camcorder when I go to Laguna (to sleep at Anne's house) on Monday.
  • I am certainly into Adele's Chasing Pavements as of the moment.
  • I am able to sleep when I start singing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" to myself at 3 am.
  • I am contemplating whether I should ask my father for money.
  • I need prepaid credits.

Alright! And we go back to the review!

Koukou Debut is about a girl named Haruna Nagashima. Now Haruna isn't your usual cutesy shoujo-type girls (although she does read ALOT of shoujo manga). She's quite muscular - gained from Softball, she's tomboyish, she has an awful sense of style, and she's not very attractive. So here's the twist, as she steps into highschool: she wants to fall in love ...badly. So she relies on her manga to feed her fantasies, but eventually she decides that she wants to have a boyfriend! At first, she tries various ways to get picked up, but due to her *cough* unattractiveness, and her hideous sense of style, she realises that she is hopeless and wouldn't attract any boys at all, so she decides to get a coach in how to become attractive. And an encounter with the famous upperclassman, Yoh Komiyama makes her decide that she wants him to be her coach.

At first, Yoh merely rejects Haruna's request - stating that he hates women. But as he sees Haruna's video of her last match where in they lost at the last innings and where she cries really hard,he realises that Haruna is not the kind to give up at all. As he sees her try very hard to 'study' how to become attractive, he eventually agrees under one condition: Haruna must never ever fall in love with Yoh, nor should she show herself crying infront of Yoh. And she agrees without hesitation.

Then she falls in love with Fumiya, one of Yoh's friends, but Asami, Yoh's sister suddenly made a ginormous move on Fumiya. Asami (Assa) was sitting on Fumi's lap (seduction) right after Fumiya and Haruna's 'date' in the zoo. The same day, Asami and Fumiya makes it official that they are dating. Haruna tries to be strong, and tries hard not to cry because she promised Yoh she wouldn't cry. Yoh goes after her after she runs off and finds her in the swings. He tells her it's okay to cry at times like these. He lets her cry on him.

Eventually, Haruna gets over Fumiya and tries once again to get picked up. This time, someone did, but it turns out to be a pervert. But because she was wearing her hideous clothes on their supposed date, he cancels and says that something came up. But Haruna follows him and finds out that he left her because she was wearing a ridiculous outfit. She tries to punch the man, but the man tries to take her with him instead to do... shady stuff. Luckily, Yoh comes to her rescue and sends the pervert away.

He starts to coach her and teach her the right way to dress, but still, at times she just wont apply his teachings.

Haruna realises that the reason why she hasn't been attracted to anyone at all is because she already is attracted to someone.. and that someone is actually Yoh! She tries to keep it to herself at first, but she couldn't. So she confesses to him and he accepts. Thus, they start dating!!!

In the recent chapters, many things have happened. One of these is the showing up of Yoh's ex girlfriend. This leads to Yoh finally admitting that he loves her.

    Review:

I like this very much. The story has such a great flow. And the art is what intrigues me. Haruna isn't anything special at all. But she does have the potential to be beautiful like in christmas:

And it's their relationship that intrigues me. They're SO incompatible and yet they're meant to be together as well. And how Yoh suddenly says sentimental stuff or how he just protects Haruna by all means despite his 'fragile-ness'... it's just such a good read! This definitely needs its own anime.

I've only read up to chapter 29, but I'll update more next time!

But before I go... Here's a cute little pic of the series of events in where Yoh suddenly kisses her. XP

    CHUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!

    AH such a long post!

Off to the other side of the rainbow

    Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Hullo, as you all know, I moved from sakuradist to this new blog.

Today's review is on Special A, a manga by Maki Minami.

Basically, the story is about Hikari Hanazono, a student from a below average family from a super elite school called Hakusenkan. This is where Kei Takishima, her 'rival' studies as well. Hikari, as a child was defeated in a wrestling match by Kei. Since this is her first loss, being exceptionally good in everything (until Kei came, of course). Ever since then, she has been trying to defeat Kei in everything and never was she able to succeed. But still, she wont admit defeat. She simply tries everything to beat the boy. And that's why she ended up in this super elite school - because Kei was there.

In Hakusenkan, the classes are separated from A-F (A being the highest and F being the lowest). The A class consists of 7 highly exceptional students (academics). A class is also called Special A. Everyone in the class has the privilege to skip class (as long as they can keep their standing in the top 7 rank). They also have a different uniform from the standard japanese uniform. And they have their own private kitchen located in a very beautiful greenhouse. (how neat is that?!)

Now back to Kei and Hikari. Hikari, being the dense, spunky idiot she is, is actually the love interest of Kei. Eventually, he starts showing his feelings but Hikari, being as dense as a can of cream soup, never notices until someone finally tells her. She eventually starts falling for Kei but is very oblivious to her own feelings. So far (since I've only read up to chapter 34), Kei and Hikari has kissed twice (on the lips) which are both taken by Kei. Here's a screenshot of one of the kisses.

I just HAD to add the chu~ <3

In this scenario, Hikari feels so much remorse because she kissed Kei on the forehead and she believes that one should only get kissed/kiss if he/she likes the person. And since she still doesn't that Kei loves her, she thinks that what she did was wrong so she apologises and calls it 'quits'. But then Kei suddenly grabs her and kisses her, and then when they pull away, Kei grins and says, "We will call it quits."

    Review:

So far, this story doesn't jump too fast into the couple dating and it also includes drama once in a while but it is more into comedy. The art is simply exquisite as it includes bishounens *swoon* but also, it portrays the characteristics of each and every person in the manga. The adorable sound effects are there (i.e. "chu"). Also, it also doesn't focus on how great the character is, as it shows in the later chapters where Hikari falls back into 13th place and might not be able to take part in the SA in the next school year.

I just simply adore Kei's character. He's so cool, mysterious (?), and so absolutely brilliant! He's the ideal ice prince, but melts whenever Hikari is there. At least we now know he has a weakness. XD

I also like the character of Yahiro. Despite the way he looks down on poor people - in which he eventually turns away from, his unrequited love for Akira is just admirable. And the way he gave up on her saying (to Tadashi) that if he ever makes Akira cry, he will never forgive him - the way he gave up on her wasn't cowardly, but it just simply showed us how much he really did care for Akira. Haha oh the life without bishounens will simply be too boring, ne?

Off to the other side of the rainbow
